LONGARMING THE HOLIDAYS & A WIN!!!

Lookey Lookey I'm longarming the Holidays!
I have finally gotten the experience I needed
to get the confidence I wanted to do load a kwilt
without help! yep, all by myself!

Basic Gray's "Blitzen" fabric, purchased a couple years ago,
was just sitting in my stash, waiting for me to bring it to life!
Can you say "meander me"

Next up was a fun Cherry Charm Pattern
 "HALLOWEEN KWILT"

A loop-de-loop design on this one had me feeling a bit loopy!
(a short trip)

A quick trim and binding then I can show you the
kwilts all done and fun backings!

Stash bustin continues!
2014 finishes are rampaging thru my veins!

And to "wrap up" the holidays...a big thank you to
Sherri, at A Quilting Life who recently had a giveaway
from Olie and Evie.
I won this holiday table runner kit.
Make sure to check out Olie and Evie's Etsy shop
for some great kwilting items and prices!

I have 4 more Halloween Kwilts
queued up for some spooky action!

PROJECT LINUS UPDATE

Nationwide Plaza Quilters make a lot of kwilts for Project Linus.
We recently met for a sewing day, working on the kits made from Project Linus fabric
that was donated by Christa Quilts.
I keep thanking this generous, sweet kwilter!

Coleen and Janet are chain stitching the easy pattern...
making a top in about 2 hours...including a lot of fun chatter.

Two bright and cheery finished tops...
by two bright and cheery kwilty friends!
3 more to do plus a bag of Project Linus fabric scraps.

Kits I put together included backing, batting and binding.
Gals will finish them and then, just imagine the smiles that
will come when these are given to some little tykes!

For me there is nothing quite as rewarding as knowing a little time and effort
can touch someones life in such a wonderful way.
And having wonderful friends who make it happen!

FRIDAY FINISH IS NOTEWORTHY

Noteworthy fabric from Moda is one of my all time favorites.
Miller's Dry Good QS in Ohio Amish Country, also a favorite
I am stash bustin again!

My first LOW VOLUME kwilt.

I grabbed Jenny Janome (my small travel machine)
And for a first time did some some straight line kwilting.
I also used a stencil for the center block...not to bad!
Jenny proved she can do more than just 1/4" seams!

Here is the fun backing - Noteworthy notes in full view

I love the green and white stripe for the binding.

I have lots more Noteworthy so wonder what will be next?

Another 3Qtr Finish, another Kwilty Pleasure
just listed my Etsy Shop!

finishing!

LE CHALLENGE - SMALL

I have a "small" project I'm linking to

The challenge theme for July is a  "small" project!
My Nested Churn Dash  (NCD) block
finishes at 24" x 24" - small enuf!

Here it is on my design wall
using TYPE fabrics from Windham
and a few scraps from my stash.

Building it out

and the final round on the design wall
at 24" x 24"

I kwilted using straight lines with gray thread
following the churn in each nested section
angling on the corners

Backing is a muddled gray and white
and if you look closely you can see the kwilting design.

Binding is a black and gray geometric print.
It's ready for a place in my sewing room.

I can also check another project off for

Head over and see the what fun projects
come in small packages!

HANDMADE CHRISTMAS - JULY

 I finished a Christmas project I don't like!
(there I said it)

Did you ever have a WIP for so long
that by the time you got it done...well, it turned ugly?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...and this
beholder ain't beholdin' to this fabric any more

I made a holiday table runner and kwilted it
with some straight stitch waves.
Some fabric you just can't "modernize"

And the backing - ugh...
Thank goodness, my fabric taste
and color palate has changed.

The dang thing is a mile long and
I can't find a place to get photo!
Oh ugly bugly!

This is going in Santa's sack and I think
it's may be somebody's lump of coal!

On a brighter side...

I did finish knitting this scarf.
In doing so, I bumped up my knitting skills .
It's been a looooong time since I did a pattern!

Next month will be better as...

Handmade Christmas Challenge Linky
