Determine the size of the finished block 

Before you begin.

ie. pillow? mug rug? baby quilt blocks?

I am making ONE block for this tutorial that I want

a finished size to be around 16 or 16 1/2"

CUT 1 

12 1/2” square

For the top and bottom frame

Cut ONE 6” x 15” rectangle 

Cut the rectangle at a diagonal as shown here 

LEAVING 1” at each corner 

Bottom right to upper left diagonal cut!

Center as show here and sew using 1/4” seam allowance.

TRIM both sides

Cut ONE 6 x 18” rectangle on diagonal 

Same as above in 15” rectangle 

 Center 18” piece in each side.

Sew with 1/4” seam allowance

Press entire block using BEST PRESS

Trim to a square

My square was trimmed to 16 1/4”
