WIP - HALLOWEEN FACE-OFF KWILT

I see on-line block swaps all the time.

A couple years ago 12 excited Halloween quilters in my local guild
decided to do this Happy Halloween pattern
by Amy Butler, as a swap.
Each of us were assigned a block, made 12 of our block
and swapped them out.

BUT before I go any further....I have a confession!
My block was the "bat" and my good friend, Linda, offered to help me with mine.
I cut them out...she stitched them on herembroidery machine.
I made her a purse in return for the help!

Here is what "FACES" me!

Add some additional fabrics from my stash

and I'll turn this into a  Wonky Halloween "FACE - OFF" kwilt!
A fresh, modern "twist" on a traditional idea!
I finally finished quilting this in 2016!

WIP @ THE NUT HOUSE!!!

My house is a NUT house....
An Ohio State Buckeye Football kinda NUT house.

My son is a HUGE fan as well.
He asked for a wall hanging...
actually
he picked out the fabrics,
old me the size and design he'd like.

I drew it up in EQ7
and here it is on my design wall.

I am adding a 3" sold black border and black binding
and of course, applique on a Buckeye Leaf
so the center should look something like this!

GO BUCKS!

LOW VOLUME STASHING

I participated in a "low volume" Fat 8th swap
sponsored by NWPatchwork on FLICKR.
A huge thanks goes out to Jackie at
NW Patchwork blog... stop over and tell her I sent ya!

Each participant bought 2 yards of one LV fabric
and cut them into 16, F8s.

Here's what I received this week!

Yet another kwilt to make....
I'm suppose to be "retired".  LOL

Would love it if you leave me a comment and tell me what pattern you might or have used for a low volume quilt?

Hey I'm linking up over at Negligent Style for (Finding Fifth's) Sunday Stash!

------------------------------------------------------------

And just sew ya know...the "PIN IT" Blog Hop
sponsored by Sew We Quilt kicks off this Tuesday.

The "sticky" hop will feature lots of great pincushion ideas.
I'm up "next week" on the 17th....
and if someone has a pincushion like the one I"m making
...I'll sit on it!

A CLEVER KWILT SHOP and some OHIO HISTORY

A little history lesson today and some fun facts
about a quilt shop that sits in Ohio history.

The first capital of Ohio was Chillicothe.
This is the State Seal of Ohio

A view from Adena Gardens (in Chillicothe)
of the mountain range used in the Ohio State Seal

A short trip to the downtown area of Chilocothe
and the fun begins at "Creations Sew Clever" Quilt Shop.
I had been here a couple times before...but as soon as I
saw the shop...I knew it had been waaay to long!

What was a "funeral home" now houses
life and laughter and beautiful fabrics and kwilts!

I have known Rita Fishel, Shop Owner,
for quite a while..and seeing her again,
was like I just saw her yesterday!
With permission, I took some photos of the shop
and told her I would love share them in a post
about her shop.

Here is Rita, showing her team spirit with this
beautiful scarlet and gray kwilt.
O - H - I - O loves their Ohio State Buckeyes
and this one is just perfect for college football season!

Rita is an author, instructor and lecturer,
renowned for her Mystery Quilts
and her designs have filled the pages of a great book!

you can find it on Amazon...here

IF you are lucky enough to take her all day
Mystery Quilt Class, she makes the kits from
your color selections, she feeds you,
she has the "sewing wenches"  on hand to press,
un-sew and just take care of you all day!

I unfortunately, don't know who made these quilts
nor the exact patterns and
would provide credits if anyone knows.

Looks like a kalediscope design of hexies in
colors for the autumn season!

A log cabin in the center and perhaps a focus
fabric in the border.  Bright and cheerful!

The Double Cross pattern was attached to this fun kwilt!

I believe this beauty is from Rita's "Curvalicious" pattern.

One can get lost in all these batiks and notions!

or perhaps you need baby fabrics

Creations Sew Clever is full of fun people,
including staff, customers...
I felt like I was right at home.

If you can't visit in person...please check out her website here

Thank you Rita for such a warm welcome
and from one kindred spirit to another....

If you have a favorite kwilt shop in OHIO...what is it?
I'm always looking for the next "road trip"!

SUNDAY STASH THAT SPARKLES...from Molli

I recently won a contest and the prize was
my choice of 1 yard of fabric,

I couldn't resist Ashbury Heights...
so I ordered a half yard of
"CHEVRONS"
and
"RING"

I have plenty of stash that will go with these beauties.
I'll stare at them a while until they tell me what to make.

What contest did I win?
You will have to search the Molli Sparkles Blog
for the "Pick MeMe" contest.

WARNING...THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!

Molli, well HE is bit little crazy,
tells it like it is and makes me laugh out loud!

Molli is from Austrailia and I can tell ya...
HIS boomerang won't come back!

Thanks Molli for my beautiful fabric, for understanding
my warped sense of humor and
for being a blog voice like no other!

I am doing a little de-stashing in my Etsy Shop!
Some beautiful batiks just waiting for you!
