GETTING WONKY With MVQG

Miami Valley Quilt Guild invited me
for a 2nd trunk show, this time...
‘Let’s Get WONKY’ presentation.

I showed a Traditional block and then
a WONKY or Modern block.

Here you see Courthouse Squares,
Log Cabins, Quarter Cabins,
9 Patch and HST

I also show smaller projects I have made
Using the WONKY version of the blocks

This display shows Stars and Churn Dash blocks.

Thru out the program
I showed about 15 quilts.
Like this Rainbow design
Not too WONKY but very Modern.
It’s also a great scrap quilt.
Scrap quilts are always part of the presentation.

This is my version fin thr 1600” jelly roll quilt
A bit wonkier!

I added in scraps after each long strip.
Also added just one birder with larger wonkiness.

I wish I could have a photographer when presenting.
Sew this is the best I could offer here.

If your quilt guild is looking for a speaker
I have several topics I can offer.
Or workshops...see the tab above
for Lecutures/Workshops info!

A 30 YEAR JOURNEY to MVQG

Miami Valley Quilt Guild invited me
to present my quilts in a trunk show.

I decided to go with my '30 year quilting journey'

Of course, I have stories around
all the quilts I've made.
But those are best said, in person!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...
sew enjoy a few of my quilts from my journey!

GROVE CITY FAT QUARTER GUILD TRUNK SHOW

I've had a bit of fun this year providing
trunk shows for various guilds.

The last one was in September and for the
Grove City Fat Quarter Quilt Guild.

One of my Kwilty Girls, Patty Estadt
is an officer and the reason
my introduction to the guild happened.

I''ll show the fronts of my quilts here in this post.
The backs are just as fun...but showing them
takes all the fun outa my future trunk shows.

And yes, every quilt has a story!

If you have a guild and are interested in a
trunk show, workshop or both...
see the Tab at the top of my blog page with info.

LORAINE COUNTY PIECEMAKERS and ME!

Anytime I can talk about my quilting journey
with other quilters...its a good day.

After teaching a Plaidish workshop I was the guest
speaker for The Loraine County Piecemankers Guild!
Its a real treat to show my MODERN makes to an
almost all Traditional makers group!
They seem interested and lots of questions follow.

I was very excited to show the group many makes
that came along with stories and laughter.
Although I have been making quilts for 30 years
I often have to limit my trunk show to a certain time frame.
Picking those 15 or sew quilts is always the hard part.

This was one of my first modern
Pattern: Wonky Cross Tutorial by Jeni Baker.
Fabric: COMMA by Zen Chic

A Laura Heine collage called Pinkekrton.
I named her my Perry County Flamingo
as the members of Perry County Sewcial Club
donated all the pink and coral fabrics
she is made with.

This is a Ghastlies Halloween Family quilt I fondly
call "Orange you Glad its Done"
There's a great story with this Nested Churn Dash quilt.

Another Halloween favorite is Painted Forest Pattern
by Blue Nichols Studio.
I used all C&S Halloween fabrics for the tree leaves.
GRUNGE for the trunks and pulled black and gray scraps
from my stash for the backing.
I call this one "Don't Go In the Forest"

If you ever need a trunk show for your guild,
I am available.  Contact me for details!

WINE TREE & TRUNK SHOW...hmmm?

It was only November but I had Christmas on my mind.
Sew my "wine themed tree" went up early.

But I also had other things on my mind.
Like a quilt trunk show for
The Columbus Metropolitan Quilt Guild in Columbus, OH

We had been trying to schedule this show since April 2019.
One thing and then COVID kept delaying the fun time.

I had pulled about 20 quilts from my collection that covered
the 30 years I have been quilting.

And then, on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 it was REALLY happening!

I told many stories that go along with my quilts.
Some brought tears, many brought laughter
and all brought a sense of FINALLY being together
and talking about quilts with other quilters.

My Perry County Flamingo was admired by many...
yes, you can touch my quilts!
This is the Laura Heiney collage quilt pattern, Pinkerton.

The quilts made with fabrics by modern designers, also brought great interest.
Like this "Paving the Way" using Lotta Jansdotter fabrics.

Peeking out is my Dancing Dragonfly quilt which I call a
'transitional quilt" .  That means my tastes were changing from
Traditional concepts to Modern aesthetics.

To get my quilts refolded in a timely manner
I showed the attendees how to fold a quilt on the diagonal for storage
and keep the creases out of the quilts.

Everyone got a chance to try it
and I had help packing my quilts for the return home.

Sew all that being said...
I am available for Quilt Trunk Shows the latter half of 2022.
If you guild is interested, we can discuss fees. etc.
Reach out to me asap!

Thanks to all who have invited me to you guild meetings.
I love to share my love of quilting.
