GHASTLIES WIP!

I am a hoarder of "Ghastlies" fabrics by Alexander Henry.

I made a kwilt in 2011, but during a work club fair,
much to my surprise, 3 people approached me
to ask if it was for sale and a bidding war ensued.

The lady who bought it said it reminded her of
Author and Illustrator Edward Gorey
Just look at his book illustration for
The Gashlycrumb Tinies
and you will see the similarities

Although I loved this kiwlt..I let it go
and continued to buy more Ghastlies fabric.

Sew this past weekend ...a Ghastlie Marathon began.
I want to get some things made for my Etsy shop.

This gray and pink fabric was from HA's first line.
I still need to add the outside border, which will be
the dame fabrics as the block sashings.
Pattern designed by Kari Nichols of Mountainpeek Creations.

This block is my favorite
"Ghastlie little girl".
I wondered where my hammer went!!!

Then I designed my own top using a center focus pieces
and with squares all around it.  I used the first collection
and "A Ghastlies Night" in this one.
A black binding will finish this off perfectly.

I still have lots more Ghastly fabric just waiting from me
to create some fun purses, a sewing machine cover, more kwilts!

like this

and this moldy green

I love me some of that Ghastlies Holiday fabric in BLOOD RED!

The Ghastlies A Ghastlie Holiday Blood Red

and the smoke gray "Ghastly Web"

A Ghastly Web in Smoke by Alexander Henry Fabrics 7835BR

What have you made using "Ghastlies fabric"?

As for me...I'm headed out to the LQS to get more!

DOODLE BUDDY - iPad App

I often doodle a kwilt design over and over
on paper..so it becomes en grained in my brain.

I was on vacation with some time to kill
and no paper on hand.  I wanted to figure out a
some designs for a couple kwilts on a long arm machine.

I had my iPad with me and knew
there had to be "an app for that"!!!
SURE ENOUGH..there were several
I downloaded the FREE app...
  "Doodle Buddy"

It was so much fun and with the touch of my finger
I was doodling kwilting designs.

First up was a design for my plus kwilt.
I drew the grid in blue-lines were rather thick.
Changed color to red for doodling the design
and here it is.

I found a way to change the colors
and the slide bar to make my doodling lines smaller.
I just kept doodling, clearing the screen and
doodling over and over.

Here is the kwilting on the long arm of this design.

I also had a wonky crosses kwilt to do
so I started with crosses in blue
And did a pointy back and forth kwilting line (in pink)

Doodle Buddy lets you save the images to
the iPad camera roll...
which allowed me to use them in this post!

Here is a close up of the kwilting.

So if you want to practice your FMQ for your home machine
or a longarm...give DOODLE BUDDY a try!

HO HO HO HOP & SANTA GIVEAWAY

This contest is now closed.
Giveaway winner has been notified.
Thanks to all who left me comments!

It's been sweltering HOT  in Ohio
but I've spotted a WONKY Santa
up on the roof top with his reindeer and redbirds.

I called the North Poll to get some fun fabrics...
Andover sent Marisa and Creative Thursday to my rescue!

Mrs Claus liked my WONKY idea to make
SANTA the  "center" of attention!  He loves an audience
when not delivering presents!

Some snowmen, trees and crowns gathered
around Santa to provide more Holiday cheer!

And then some solids for a place to rest your eyes.

These were my first wonky log cabin blocks
and I hope Santa will put me on the "good girl" list.

I had a few extra wonky blocks...
and they became part of the kwilt back
giving way to a modern feel.

I custom kwilted this one on my Bernina,
using some meandering between blocks
and straight lines to outline the block pieces.

And here it is.....just waiting on a delivery to
some lucky little boy or girl!

One more surprise
The sunshine gives a little different color tone
but can you believe the fabric and flowers
were made for each other!

HO-HO-HOPE you have enjoyed my
Santa Claus is "Wonking" To Town Kwilt!
It is for sale in my Etsy shop.

But before you catch Santa's Sleigh to the other rooftops...
I heard he is checking his list to see
if you want to win a "giveaway"
This one is a fabric panel called
OVER THE EDGE
(you can actually color with crayons if you like)

and some fun edgy, colorful fabrics to create borders.

Please leave me a comment and tell me
what kwilting item you hope Santa will bring you!

Giveaway is open to all!!
A random drawing will be held at the end of the hop!

LOADED...

the MACHINE
not ME!!!

Mouth watering...sin-sational COMMA fabrics

FMQ with pointy back and forth design!

So much fun to kwilt on the longarm machine!

Love my "wonky COMMA crosses" kwilt!

Bold and gold batik backing
with some left over COMMA
to accent it!

A big thank you to my kwilting partner in crime,
Kathy Guenther.  She gave me the COMMA fabric
 for my retirement gift!
I hope I have done it justice!

Come back this Friday (Aug 2) to see
my HO HO HO Blog Hop project.
I think a big fat man will be here too!
