MY ASHEVILLE NC YARN CRAWL

Finally posting about my yarn crawl thru
the Asheville NC area...
If you travel and like to find great yarn shops...read on!
Sorry for some poor lighting on the pics
and I had permission from all owners to take them!

Purls Yarn Emporium is in downtown Asheville
A street full of boutiques and this was a great one!

Llamas and sheep caught me eye immediately
on this wall hanging
and the yarn yumminess began!

Oh what's that I see....more wool babies!

A great sofa for those who wish to sit and stitch
or to wait on me...this took a while!

Just a street over was Earth Guild.
Many hand crafting supplies including yarn!

This is a great shawl is  "A Simple Shawl" by Yarn Smith...
a former employee designed it...they were out of it and I can't find it...anyone have this pattern?

Asheville NC Home Crafts, is a full service yarn shop,
located downtown in the Gorge Arcade building.
Lots of unique shops in this area!
And restaurants on the streets outside!

Several rooms full of colorful yarn and finished items.

Cute felted hats and more shawls and scarves!

I found this scarf and decided I could do this
simple Chevron pattern.

They only had 1 skein in the color I wanted
So I ordered another skein on line and it arrived home before me!

This one is going on vacation with me...
I need it done for fall and winter!

A short drive to N Merrimon Ave I found the Knitting Diva.

Very chic and a modern vibe.
They now offer batik fabrics for sale as well.

How cute is this tree displaying yarn!

Sit and stitch?  I might never get up!

Rows and rows of delectable delights!

Next stop "Friends and Fibers" in nearby Candler, NC
This shop was stuffed to the gills with yarn
and southern hospitality!

My driver, Phil, picked out and bought me this pattern.
I guess I should get it made sooner than later!

There was soooooo much to see in the shop
it was difficult to take it all in!

Eye Candy Overload!
They have a great system to find any pattern you want
and the yarn to go with!

I hope if you visit Asheville, NC you will stop in and say hi
to all the folks who sit and stitch!
Tell them Kathy from Kwilty Pleasures sent you!

PS every spring there is a yarn crawl in Western NC

KNIT WIT!

If you thought I was shopping Instagram Destashes
 "just" for fabric...you were wrong.
#thegreatyarndestash has some incredible finds!

Like these yummy "fingering" weights.
Yup these 3 skeins for almost the price of 1 skein!
When my skill level improves...
I have enuf for a very large shawl!

Two more skeins ..in an unique autumn color scheme.

The yumminess of these 2 skeins screamed...take me too!
how could I not!

And get this...I bought the skien and she sent me
the already knitted shawl for FREE.
Said she didn't like how it came out.  WTF?
I can frog it or not...OMG  Wish I knew how to just
keep on knitting it to make it bigger.
This color is Pennies at Sunset...bee-u-tee-ful!

Who? you ask, is the person who offers such
 incredible "destash yarns" and  "prices"
I probably should not tell BUT I will...
Head on over to Instagram and
look for @sewmamamakesand follow Jill!
She also destashes fabric for you quilters out there!

ALL this beautiful yarn (8 skeins plus 1 knitted)
and shipping for around  $80.00!  That is insane!
She also took time to send me a
bunch of links to free shawl patterns on Ralvery!

Thank you Jill!
I am a very lucky knitter!

LLAMA LOVE

Next to quilting...I luv to knit.
That being said I have found a new luv of llamas!

An IG friend posted a baby quilt with llama fabric.
I asked her if she had a scrap of it I could have
...hoping to add my own stash with it and
make a cute knitting  project bag!

This is what she sent...an entire sampler pack
of Llama Love by Michael Miller!

I found this domino stash fabric for the lining
and had a zipper in my stash!

I added a piece of the stripe, trimmed the pieces 14" x 15"
Followed the Noodlehead Open Wide Zipper Pouch pattern
but with my custom sizes.
If you have not seen it...check out the free tute here.

Added some serpentine quilting...
on the exterior and batting piece
(NOT the lining)
I picked a "S" looking stitch on my machine
and adjusted the length to stretch it out long...

And here is an inside peek...

It's Llama Luv at its best!

MINI TREE TABLE TOPPER!

I am not ready to give up on the
Quick Curve Ruler (QCR) and have the mini
to make this "Mini Trees" table topper.
I absolutely love this!

Download the free pattern here by Sew Kinda Wonderful
You can also purchase the mini ruler from them.

I decided to use some of my hoarded
Flea Market Fancy along with
Cotton and Steel white on white print

This Flea Market Fancy will be the backing and binding.

All cut and ready to SEW MY STASH 2016.
I will work on this while at the beach this fall.
After all...it might rain!
