I WAS IN STITCHES!

Why did I not know...there was a fabulous quilt shop in Cincinatti OH
Called STITCHES?

When my friend Kathy Guenter took me there,
my first thought was..."man this is small"
Nope...don't let that storefront fool ya!
It was narrow but deep...lots of rooms all the way back.

We found lots of notions.

Modern patterns/designers

3 Shelves of Charley Harper fabrics

Solids on Sale!

A great sale area
with these 1/2 yd cuts at $6

And I found a remnant of a Charley Harper
Racoon Christmas print

Yes...I was in STITCHES and will go back!

OUR 2020 SENIOR

Our grandson, Daevaughn Chatman,
is a Senior in the Class of 2020

That means many heartbreaking things...
Missing the prom, graduation ceremony.
The longest ‘Senior Skip Day’ ever.
For me, it meant a graduation quilt!

I have a ga-zillion precuts and I found some
by Amy Ellis that read masculine.

I decided to use Charm Pack Cherry pattern.
Its quick and easy using charm packs!
Not too much fabric to pack for my winter snowbird adventure

The pattern is free over at the FQ Shop.
Click here to get your copy!

I began working on the quilt, in the small condo we had rented.
A padded TV table for my ironing surface and my Featherweight

I quilted it on my Bernina 740 with
simple straight lines design - vertical and horizontal
Thrilled with the end result.

The backing is made with a coordinating Layer Cake
And a couple strips to make it large enough.

I used the text sewing function on my Bernina
to add the label info, directly on the front of the quilt. Thanks

We don’t know when or if there will be a graduation party.
But regardless, ‘I got him covered’

FINDING FIBERS!

As with any kwilting retreat...
shopping for fabric is always involved.

I bought this fabric before I left my house.
Kathy G found this C & S at 50% off
and called me to see what I wanted...
now that's a kwilty friend!

Then I found these at Mrs. Miller's QS in Charm, OH
and they offered a 10% off coupon.

I see another knitting project bag!
or maybe several for my Etsy shop!

Mrs. Miller's has a great sale area in the basement.
These were $6.00 / yard

The Country Craft Cupboard, Berlin, OH - 10% coupon.
Kathy didn't want anything so I used her coupon too!
You know I'm a charm hoarder!

The Helping Hands LQS , Berlin, OH.
I asked if they were offering retreaters any discount.
WELLLLLLL!!!
They printed off  30% off coupon
for my group - to use the entire weekend.
"Always Ask"
I found these yummy skeins of yarn to bring home!

Retreat participants can bring their destash items to sale
so I unloaded a few things...and snatched these up for FREE

Some "I Spy" fabrics ...FREE

Kathy also gave me some C & S leftover triangles
from the quilt project she was working on.
I sewed them into HST...just gotta trim to size.
Wonder what they will become.

All in all...lots of new stash to bring home
but the best was time spent with kwilty friends.

Stashin it

I have been destashing lately and  of course
had to buy some new fabric on a recent visit to
The Fabric Shack!

It was raining on the sale cart
and it's not even April yet!

I abosultely love anything Zen Chic
and these charms were also n the sale cart!

Aneela Hoey is one of my fav designers for kids fabric...
yep SALE CART

Then I found some FQs of Downtown Abbey...
and had a half-yard coordinate piece cut.
Can you say zippy pouches?

I found another sale area in the front of the store
more Lotta Jansdotter to my ever growing collection.

Oh yes, there is a remnant table with fabrics at $3.49 / yard

You can't go wrong at the Fabric Shack.   I am working on a post for later that captures many MODERN designers...

RAINBOWS END NEVER ENDS!

Each time I am in Florida I try to visit...

My Kwilty Partner in Crime, Kathy Guenther
and I made a "Thelma and Louise" trip to  Dunnedin
to shop at the largest LQS in Florida!

Kathy's first visit...and I have been here many times.
Check out this previous post.
I was pleasantly surprised to see
a good selection of modern designer fabrics.

Zen Chic  - Sphere
...drooling

Cotton & Steel

more Cotton & Steel
and Liberty of London

FQs were $3.00 each
so I grabbed some C & S that spoke to me

More C & S
and Prisma Elements by AFG

This Geofabulous bundle Maude Asbury's
was just irresistible!

What to make?  Don't know yet...but
it is colorful party just waiting to happen.

A great assortment of "low volume" fabrics
from many great designers

A "rainbow" of  FQs on display

Pretty modern designed kwilts on display

Yes they still have a sale room with spectacular bargains.
I managed to filter out these fun $2.00 FQs

I returned home and began refolding my FQs and found
odd little stickers placed inside each.
Maybe they are anti-theft stickers and shoot dye
all over the fabric if someone tries to steal them?

The next best stop in Dunnedin is the harbor/marina
Check out this fun guy who greets you!

Thelma and Louise had a great road trip,
We were able to have a great time, avoided arrest and
didn't have to pull our weapons on anyone!
Yes, there were a few Brad Pitt types spotted along the route
but what happens on the road...stays on the road!
