IG TOTE SWAP - JUST GHASTLIE

Not long ago I was bitching about swaps and
people not meeting timely commitments.

Well my tote did arrive...arrived several weeks late
with sincere apologies from
Kristi McDonough @schnitzelandboo )
She made me the most GHASTLIE bag
I could have ever imagined.

Front

Back

Zipper pocket and the straps are woven cotton
but look like leather!

Side pockets are perfect for cellphones...sun glasses

A zipper in the top of the bag ... love that!

this bag is HUGE...
zippers inside for lots of safe keeping my goodies
 and a removable key fob

Well it was worth the wait...and I am totally
out of my mind with excitement!

Its a pattern by @sewsweetness...not yet released.
the Sloan Weekender Bag, I believe!

Thank you Kristi!
I absolutely love this bag!

Stitches for Charity

I am sitting at the hospital waiting for my hubby to be released
and thought I could share some pics I took last Sunday
at the James Stitching Sisters 11th Annual Quilt Day.

The JSS group makes quilts for cancer patients at the
OSU James Cancer Hospital.
Since 2005 almost 20,000 quilts have been made
by volunteers and distributed.

Kits are put together all year long and
over 400 are available at this event for participants to sew.
And get a look at all the vendor and volunteer donations.
NO ONE goes home empty handed.
Door prizes for everyone

Some of the samples quilts from the kits
 and doorprizes.

The front table hold grand prizes
for those who entered finished kwilts
for the Quilts of Comfort Challenge.
Someone wins that sewing machine

Every year the volunteers make a raffle quilt...
king size this year!

Definitely a room with a view..

Over 200 kwilters bring their sewing machine for a great day of sewing.

My Nationwide Insurance peeps...

And a few tops they made

Speaking of Nationwide...their real estate group provides
the James Stitching Sisters a facility (sewing center)
to house all their fabric, machines and everything needed
to keep this charity going.
Proud to say I am a retiree of Nationwide Insurance.
They are more this just an insurance premium !

If you get a chance to sew for any charity, I hope you will.
The reward are never ending !

A PEEK INSIDE THE SHACK

Quilt shops come and go but The Fabric Shack is here to stay.
Located in Waynesville, OH

You can shop on line but if you walk into the store...
AND YOU LOVE MODERN FABRICS...
It's about as close to heaven as you can be
and still be on the right side of the grass!

I am a fool for Halloween and they have all the latest!

Stashin it

I have been destashing lately and  of course
had to buy some new fabric on a recent visit to
The Fabric Shack!

It was raining on the sale cart
and it's not even April yet!

I abosultely love anything Zen Chic
and these charms were also n the sale cart!

Aneela Hoey is one of my fav designers for kids fabric...
yep SALE CART

Then I found some FQs of Downtown Abbey...
and had a half-yard coordinate piece cut.
Can you say zippy pouches?

I found another sale area in the front of the store
more Lotta Jansdotter to my ever growing collection.

Oh yes, there is a remnant table with fabrics at $3.49 / yard

You can't go wrong at the Fabric Shack.   I am working on a post for later that captures many MODERN designers...

CHARM DASH HOP - NO APRIL FOOLS ALLOWED!

It's my day on the Charm Dash Blog Hop.
Thanks, Ms. Midge for asking me to participate

I am a charm pack "hoarder"
Baby Einstein earned a HAPPY place for the pattern.!

Everything cut and labeled...GO!

I made all the HST at once

Chain piecing and block building
went pretty quickly!

White for the background
Larger print charms for the center of each block
Dots and hombre charms were in each block
AND the HST were all the same in each block

A design wall comes in handy when laying out blocks!

Pin basting...

Bernina set for FMQ (luv the BSR- Bernina Stitch Regulator)

and the meandering began

 Yellow w/small dot for backing
My own quilt care labels for the corner

The yellow border corralled all those bright colors.

Baby Einstein Charm Dash finished at 44" x 55"
A great size for baby or toddler!

Now for sale in my Etsy shop (click here)

April Fools' Day
Celebrated in many countries/
Always on the first day of April,
People play practical jokes on others.
The victim of the hoaxes is the April Fool!
