My Aunt Hattie was one of 4 sisters who loved to quilt.
When I was about 12 she showed me how to tie this quilt.
I had no idea then what she gave me to my not yet know
quilting journey.
50 years later Hattie's quilt needed an update.
Sew I took it apart, tossed the nasty batting,
pieced together Quilters Dream batting pieces,
and bought a new blanket for the backing.
I found some suede yarn for re-tying it.
I found some suede yarn for re-tying it.
This baby is HUGE, the blanket is KING size.
And heavy, very heavy.
I pulled the blanket to the front
and machine stitched it down as a facing
and it was finished.
And someone is gonna be snuggly and warm this winter!
My son Eric was excited to hear I had saved Aunt Hattie's quilt.
He remembers snuggling under it as a kid.
One day it will be his again.
