PICTURE FRAME PINCUSHION TUTORIAL

This tutorial is making a pincushion in a picture frame.

You will need a small photo frame
(I love thrift store finds)

The frame needs an easel type backing like this.

Take it all apart

Gather some fiberfill, small piece of cardboard
and some tape (or I prefer a hot glue gun)

Audition fabrics

Place the picture frame glass and draw around it on
a piece of cardboard, cut it out.
You will use the cardboard...toss the glass (carefully)

Layer fabric, wrong side up, fiberfill then the cardboard on top.

Fold the fabric edges over the cardboard and hot glue it down
(or you can use tape)

Place this cushion piece into the frame
Cardboard to the back.
Put the back on the frame
I like secure it by running a bead of hot glue around.

ALL DONE!

I like to use mine on the table beside my recliner chair.
Handy for handwork!

who knew...it's a pincushion in a picture frame!

  9. How clever---a standing pincushion. The idea leads me to think about a picture frame that no longer stands but is too pretty to throw away and two small to hang on the wall. It shall find a new life as a pin cushion. Thanks for the inspiration.

  36. While I have several things that annoy me, i'm not really at the point of hurting people. It would also come off as downright mean. Maybe I should stick some pins in my truck, though. My husband is trying to change the brakes and the parts are all rusted together. All we do is curse at it and visit the parts store and throw money at it. It's been in parts for about a month.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Super cute Kathy. I would love to stick a pin in the armadillo that is digging up my back yard.....no wait, that would be a bullet !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Now that's a great idea! You could even print a photo on fabric and make the pincushion too so it's a photo in a frame as well, except I guess if it's a loved one you wouldn't want to jab them with a pin, would you, lol? Perhaps this is when you would print something (or someone) that you would like to stick, ha, ha. A naked porcupine would make a cute pincushion to stick pins in, ha, ha.
    Thanks for a great giveaway.
