STITCHIN' SISTERS FOR SURE!

I talk a lot about The James Stitching Sisters,
A Charity group, who to date
have made and given out more than 8,000 kwilts!

Last month was the 10th Anniversary - JSS Annual Quilt Day.
Kwilters from all over gathered to make kwilts, win door prizes, and have fun!

Let me introduce you to two very important ladies.
Joanne Lester, on the right, started this WONDERFUL effort in 2005
in her basement.
Today the charity work has grown to be enormous...
and we now have an official Sewing Center
Carol Monson, on the left, manages the sewing center.

Without their dedication and drive...
well I don't want to think about that!

Results for the 2013 Quilts of Comfort Challenge
1120 pieced tops and backs were completed/entered
900 kwilts -  kwilted and bound were completed/entered

Here I am, giving out these "Challenge" prizes.
1 out of every 20 entries  (as mentioned above)
won either a jelly roll or 3, 1 yard cuts of fabric.

Just look at all the donated door prizes!!!
Kwilting vendors and friends are sew generous!
The kwilts hanging are samples of the kits,
cut and ready to sew on kwilting day.

The Quilt Challenge for 2013 also had Grand Prizes
that included TWO, yes TWO, Baby Lock sewing machines
AND other great gifts!

Over 225 kwilters gathered...and quickly filled a HUGE facility.
A free lunch was provided sew no one missed a stitch!

My Nationwide Insurance peeps here along with
all our other Stitching Sisters

More Nationwide Peeps!
Happy to be there and enjoying all the camaraderie!

A few of the NW peeps finished kwilts!
Over 300 kwilt kits, cut and packaged by the volunteers
throughout the year were ready for the attendees.
WE RAN OUT OF KITS!!!

Janice never missed a chance to make a top!

Kim made this beauty on her first Quilt Day!

Margaret is hiding behind this beauty.
She never fails to sew with JSS any time she can!

The James Stitching Sisters, is one of the most, caring, giving
and generous group of volunteers!
It is an honor to be a part of it all.

After the stitching day was over Quilt Beginnings, LQS
and just a short hop down the street, offered a 20% discount
on purchases to ANYONE who attended Quilt Day.
There was also a wine and cheese party (hey, hey)
to help us  celebrate the day!
A huge thank you to Cathy Daum!
and the North Store staff managed by Jill!
There are sew many to thank...
especially those who work all year to organize this event
and then pull it all together!
It is unbelievable the effort that goes in to such a day!
