THE MILL HOUSE QUILT RETREAT

There’s lots of quilt retreat housing options these days.
This August, the Kwilty Girls are going to stay at
Mill House, in Utica.

Kathy Guenther and I checked it out just after they opened.
Very roomy and lots of charm.

The front entrance has a wooden inlay in the floor.
It’s a quilt design and the owners
made a quilt in replica.

The sewing area is in 2 adjoining spaces
and seat 8 people comfortably!
We have 6 in our group, sew plenty of room!

Nice chairs for comfort and spacious tables.
These flat back chairs have been replaced.

A really nice part of the place is a sitting room!
With a TV and plenty of comfy furniture!
Probably where our masseuse will set up!
Yes we hire someone to come in
On the last day!

There’s a fully equipped kitchen.
Although breakfast is brought in for us!
BUT the Kwilty Girls can cook too!

Remodeled bathrooms!

And 3 bedrooms

There’s a door that opens off the front foyer
that leads to an Underground Railroad exit.
I hope it locks securely…kinda creepy to me.
I heard there’s a ghost who owners believe was
A soldier with a wooden leg?
sometimes a thumping walk can be heard?
Hope he likes crazy Kwilty Girls in his space!

Nearby we found the Velvet Ice Cream Mill.

So that’s a MUST!

And if your taste runs more toward something a bit stronger…
there’s a the Mill Street Distillery …
in the quaint downtown area.

 And tastings are available!
small batch bourbons and brandy!
Looks like some moonshine too!

The Mill Street Event venue is popular for weddings.
Maybe will will see one or at least
Find a perfect quilt photo op!

Will keep you posted!

X and + QUILT

I love all things Zen Chic.
I have had the inkling to make the x and + quilt forever!
I have also had a bundle of Zen Chic ‘White Christmas’ fabric forever!
It’s got a bit of metallic in it
Sew this is gonna be gorgeous!

My original intent was to make ‘Those Trees’ quilt by Zen Chic.
My friend made it and it is lovely.
But for whatever reason…I just couldn’t cut into the bundle.

And so it sat until this pattern caught my eye!
I love the green in the mix.  Still a Christmas color.

So I got out the bundle and separated the FQs by color.
I added in the greens from my stash.

I took away the blue-grays and the cream fabric
And cut, cut, cut!

It’s now ready to sew.
I think adding in the  non-Christmas green prints
will make the quilt all year use!

And hey, Those Trees pattern may become a table runner!

JUST GEOFABULOUS

Maybe you don’t know Maude Asbury?
Maybe you should?
She hides deep in my stash.
But sometimes her beautiful colors and designs
jump out and screams
“CUT ME! SEW ME! MAKE ME MORE BEAUTIFUL!
I am just a stack of fabrics
sitting here on the shelf, trying to be seen!
I deserve better!”

Well, who can argue with that?
This bundle was purchased from
Rainbows End LQS, Dunedin FL
many years ago.
These geometric prints are indeed…
GEOFABULOUS!

I think they will be perfect for
the Picnic Quilt
ByRuby Star Society.
The free pattern was part of a
2022 Summer SewAlong!

Yes sometimes it takes years for me
to pull it ALL together.
But when I make this quilt…it will be
JUST GEOFABULOUS!

It’s all cut and perhaps a project for an
August Quilt Retreat!

A MAUDE ASBURY CHRISTMAS!

Apparently, I love Christmas quilts.
These cute Maude Asbury holiday prints are sew dang cute.
They have been in my stash for a few years.
I was waiting for the perfect pattern to appear!

Just sew happens, the pattern book had that pattern in it!
And was also in my stash!

Simply Modern Christmas
By Cindy Lammon

I love the SNOWBALL cover pattern
And it’s all cut and ready to sew.

I made this quilt once before, and gifted it
to a very special friend, Shannon Coil.
This one is made with Cotton and Steel
holiday fabric lines, Noel  and Garland.

I think this will be my Christmas in July project!
Now where are those Christmas cookies?

SUMMER TABLE TOPPERS

I love making table toppers.
Especially when I find favorite, hoarded stash fabrics.
These are made with Lotta Jansdotter
Glimma and Echo 5” squares (charm packs)

These ended up in my kitchen!
A much needed refresh!
