HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I finally finished a Halloween quilt
that has been haunting me for several years!

It all began as a swap among 12 quilters
We each picked a character from this pattern

Each of us made 12 blocks of our selected character to swap
September, 2013 -  I brought home these blocks

I wanted to do something a bit different, so I grabbed
a lot of craps and the fun began!

Let's not dilly dally with my procrastination any longer.
I cut strips and made each block "wonky"
Squaring them up when I got them to a bigger size
making sure black was the outer color.

Check out the FMQ on each block
It was such fun and a great way to practice
different designs and use lots of colorful thread.

And here it is...all done.
I luv the scrappy binding that pull all the colors out.

Not sure why I didn't want to finish it, but happy I did.
Let the Halloween fun creep into your home
NOW!

CHARM DASH HOP - NO APRIL FOOLS ALLOWED!

It's my day on the Charm Dash Blog Hop.
Thanks, Ms. Midge for asking me to participate

I am a charm pack "hoarder"
Baby Einstein earned a HAPPY place for the pattern.!

Everything cut and labeled...GO!

I made all the HST at once

Chain piecing and block building
went pretty quickly!

White for the background
Larger print charms for the center of each block
Dots and hombre charms were in each block
AND the HST were all the same in each block

A design wall comes in handy when laying out blocks!

Pin basting...

Bernina set for FMQ (luv the BSR- Bernina Stitch Regulator)

and the meandering began

 Yellow w/small dot for backing
My own quilt care labels for the corner

The yellow border corralled all those bright colors.

Baby Einstein Charm Dash finished at 44" x 55"
A great size for baby or toddler!

A HANDMADE CHRISTMAS - NIGHTMARE!

Just because you think you are ahead of the game...
does NOT mean you are!  Here it is August..
I have finished a kwilt for the

"BLIITZEN" (Moda fabric - Basic Grey)
had been sitting in my stash for sometime.
I decided it would be the fabrics to make a
"MODERN" Christmas/Winter kwilt...for my house!

I used the Turning 20 pattern (quick and easy)
and loaded it on a long arm to kwilt. In just over a couple hours
the kwilting was all done right?
NOT!

As I began to sew down the binding a nightmare unfolded!
The thread on the back, over more than half the kwilt, was a tension mess!
(even though I had checked it a couple times while on the long arm)
There were railroad tracks to hell!
I had thread demons that I was NOT going to put up with!

I re-pinned the entire kwilt, and a section at a time,
ripped out the stitches and began to re-kwilt on my Bernina.

THEN - I had to take Ber-nee-nee into the shop
cause she seemed possessed with the same thread demons!!!

But in the end...I drove out those thread demons
and she is finally finished!

Ripping out the kwilting made me slow down
and I found it very therapeutic
Things do happen for a reason.
I had been working like a maniac
on many projects and this demonic episode...
forced me to slow down.

The backing has some batiks cause that was in my stash.

My DH likes it!
Isn't he just too cute with his snowman kwilt!
