2025 QUILT FINISHES

It’s Valentine’s Day

And I love my quilts!

I hope you do too!

I didn't get a full photo of this beachy feeling quilt for

Laressa, my person in Myrtle Beach who helps me

book my resort when I visit my son!

Summer Picnic is a winner!

Starstruck Ghastlies used up a lot of my OOP stash!

I'm talking early lines from 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012

Twisted Geese, by Zen Chic was a fun one

and now I'm not afraid of a gaggle of geese!

This was a pattern test called Sweet Mae.

And the FQs were by Zen Chic as well.

A wonky churn dash used up a layer cake I had in my stash.

I love this design...tutorial by Missouri Star, Freestyle Churn Dash.

I finally finished some Ghastlie wonky star blocks into a top.

This was all part of a IG swap many years ago.

Oh now we are talking about some more wonky flying geese,

Monkey Wrench pattern and more Zen Chic fabrics.

Fall Breeze by V & Co

Fabric is GRUNGE set on a light gray tone on tone.

I finished a baby quilt for our great-granddaughter

and Great-grandad Phil snuggled under it!

When she arrives…her name will be

Anora Blair Chatman

Last but not least was Felicity the Feisty Flamingo.

I had a good year...and 2026 will be as much fun as 2025!

CHURNING OUT SOME WONKY!

I have a trunk show available for groups, guilds called

"Let's Get WONKY"

The idea is to take a traditional quilt block

and make it wonky.

That's the idea here and I used

Missouri Star, Freestyle Churn dash tutorial

I had a Layer Cake and needed to give 

this a try.

I love the result!

The backing uses same concept, my design, on a larger scale.

I gave it to Kim Hensley of

Happily Every Quilting.

We decided on the E2E Design WHITESPACE!

It's just perfect for this one.

Take a closer peek at it.

Here's the back and the thread color 

was also perfect.

I made a scrappy binding using the

two prints/colors on the quilt back.

Don't forget to label your quilts!

My fav part of making a quilt is hand stitching down the binding.

It's taken me years to get the pretty mitre corners.

The wonky churn dash looks dashing on my sofa.

The "Gordon Seeds" pillow matches perfectly!

And the biggest POSER is at it again!

CROSS CUTTING A QUILT

As usual I'm catching up with all my blog posts.

I still blog after 12 years, because its my personal journey.

Today I'm sharing a fun post about an inspiration I saw on Pinterest.

It began with a PINTEREST pic, of course,

CROSSCUT. A word, a photo, that caught my eye

And it all felt a bit wonky!

I was inspired to give it a try!

So to begin…blocks are made the same

BUT

For two different designs,

A traditional and a more modern 

Or wonky design.

The layouts were the same

This is the traditional design blocks.

And a second traditional

CROSSCUT

Using a 6.5” sq ruler

To get this WONKY design blocks.

Then sew them both designs into tops and

Pick a backing.

Quilted and binding is ready!

Quite wonky!

Trunk Show!

A QUILT FOR LARESSA

Laressa lives in Myrtle Beach and has always helped me

with my resort reservations when I visit Eric

She also looks after him and treats him like one of her own.

Last Christmas when I visited, she said, I have a wish

for next Christmas.  I’d love a quilt.

And so that wish is being granted. 

I had some batiks in beachy colors

that were perfect for her quilt.

A quick and easy patter

and this one was finished in no time.

I even had enough batiks for a backing

and binding.

For this one I sewed the binding by machine. 

I forgot to take a picture of the finished quilt but

you can see here...it's a great finish.

Laressa wasn't at the beach in October, when I visited.

So I've left this one with my Elf, Eric, to give to her for Christmas.

MORE WONKINESS!

Time to work on some more WONKY blocks.

A speaker presentation doesn't just happen.

It takes work to make it fun and engaging.

Most of my presentations are with traditional audiences.

Sew my goal is to encourage them to 

'step outside the sewing box'

and try something new.

Something liberated, askew, FUN!

HELLO 2025!

Happy New Year!

I will soon return home from my Holiday beach vacation. 

I’ve been visiting with my son for 3 fabulous weeks.

My gift to me…and hopefully to him. 

That being said, who else is looking forward to

another creative, successful year.

I am not big on making New Years resolutions but clearly

there is excitement building in my sewing room.

It’s cold in Ohio but I have this fabulous quilt coat to keep me warm! 

Thanks is to Patty Estadt who helped me make it last November. 

I’ll be sure to wear this at the Annual Kwilty Girls Retreat in January. 

Then I have some trunks shows and/or workshops 

to prepare for in February, March and April.  

I also have these WIPs on my radar. 

My radar changes often, but gotta start with a list!

This is my next Ghastlie quilt.

I am almost ready to roll out A Ghastlie…Trunk Show!  

I need to finish the 21 STAR blocks which is more work

than I had anticipated. So it’ll be a if I feel like it. 

I am chomping at the bit to get this one sewn and quilted.

It’s all cut and marked. I luv me some zen Chic.

Kim Hensley gave me the Layer Cake and pattern a couple

Years ago…time to just do it!

A mini Plaidish needs finished  before February/March when I teach this

Workshop to make The Plaidish.  It’ll be my 3rd Plaidish. 

Fall Breeze is all cut and ready to sew.  I need a stong BREEZE blowing

against my back, to finish this before the maple leaves FALL again! 

This one is in the planning stage to use with Christmas charm packs.

I want another RWB quilt and pulled fabric for Brightly, by Cluck Cluck Sew.

Might happen, maybe ! 

This one just keeps getting shoved away.

I cut these Flea Market Fancy scraps several years ago…

Time to finish now that I have some white squares to go with it. 

Maybe I can talk Kim Hensley to do one like this 

for our next Sewcial Distamce quilt.

That always motivates me !

This one has been staring at me for awhile. 

I just can’t decide the fabrics I want to use !

But I know it’ll be Zen Chic. 

I do want to make the By Annie ‘Everything Bag’.

I have all the supplies.  It seems overwhelming. 

I believe it will be quite Ghastlie.
