X and PLUS EQUALS QUILTED!

This is a pattern I have had in my to do list for-ever!
The X and +

I love everything about Zen Chic including THIS pattern!

And the Zen Chic White Christmas fabrics.

And I added some greens from my stash to get the colors  I wanted.

Let’s see how this all adds up!
I made all the blocks and added this huge 6” border.

I had a small Christmas print in green/chartreuse for the backing.

And off to Kim Hensley to work her magic!

and that magic happened!
E2E Crystal Ball quilting pattern!

Here it is in Kim’s Guest Room Doybke bed!
I only have a Jung bed…too small fir they

x & +

This quilt has been on my to do list for many years.
There's something about the X and + design that intrigues me.

When I saw this version by Zen Chic...this was it!

I had Zen Chic 'White Christmas" fabrics in my stash
for many years and couldn't decide
what it should be...this was it!

I added some green FQs to the "White Christmas"
FQ bundle to get the vibe I wanted.

I love the block trays and stacked up
the pieces that would make the cut!

Sewing began and more
stacking of the block units happened.

Different sections...
Different blocks

Sewed together one bloxk
and oh my...this is it!

The design wall began to collect the blocks.
Growing larger and larger.
I tried to place as i sewed instead of making
stacks and then to the design wall.
It worked very well.

And it filled it full!

I have to put this all together
and then send it off to a longarm quilter.
It deserves to be beautiful!

X and + QUILT

I love all things Zen Chic.
I have had the inkling to make the x and + quilt forever!
I have also had a bundle of Zen Chic ‘White Christmas’ fabric forever!
It’s got a bit of metallic in it
Sew this is gonna be gorgeous!

My original intent was to make ‘Those Trees’ quilt by Zen Chic.
My friend made it and it is lovely.
But for whatever reason…I just couldn’t cut into the bundle.

And so it sat until this pattern caught my eye!
I love the green in the mix.  Still a Christmas color.

So I got out the bundle and separated the FQs by color.
I added in the greens from my stash.

I took away the blue-grays and the cream fabric
And cut, cut, cut!

It’s now ready to sew.
I think adding in the  non-Christmas green prints
will make the quilt all year use!

And hey, Those Trees pattern may become a table runner!

STRIP PLUS QUILT

OK, I still need to put the binding on this one.
I am waiting for my Bernina 740 to get back from spa day.
If its not finished soon...I will use my Bernina 440.
I like the dual feed on the 740, sew I should just wait!
It's been a spa month but I was told 6 weeks, sew....🙁

My good friend Kim Hensley, of Happily Every Quilting,
did the longarm quilting and isn't it lovely!

We decided on a fun E2E design called
Mr. Marbles and white thread.
I love the curved quilting against the geometric pluses.

The colors just pop on the white background.

I used an older jelly roll, Reel Time, by Zen Chic.
I wanted a gray, mustard, green and black color scheme.
I pulled out the blues and oranges.

The backing by Alison Glass was a super buy at
Zincs Warehouse in Berlin, OH.
I thought the X and + design of white on gray
was perfect.

Last August, Kim brought the quilt to a quilt retreat
we attended, at Newkirk House in Newark OH.

I did have some left over PLUS blocks
and will make either pillows or a table runner
with some other fabrics I found in my stash.

I love everything about this journey.
The quilt finished at 60" x 69"
Quilting is sew much fun!
The binding has been ready...
Let's roll!

ZEN CHIC WHITE CHRISTMAS DILEMA

Do you ever have that one FQ bundle that you just can't cut.
NOT because you don't want to use it...but because
you keep changing your mind about the pattern you want to use.

I love all fabrics by Zen Chic and her beautiful pattern designs.
I have had this bundle of White Christmas for...
well many years.
Its so amazing and I want to make sure whatever pattern
I use...it will be the best pattern to showcase it!

Brigitte Heitland, Zen Chic Designer
offered this FREE Christmas Star Pattern...
I really love it.  You can find it on the Zen Chic website.

My friend Kathy Guenther used her F8th bundle
and 'Those Trees' pattern.

I like it, I like modern, but it's too much
negative space to satisfy the Modern Traditionalist
that lives in my heart.

Then here is another idea.
X & + also by Zen Chic.

I could figure it out and with the White Christmas fabrics
in the bundle OR I could add a spruce green to the mix?

Well I have 11 months til Christmas
but this one will be done with one pattern or another,
or with a mix of patterns
or one yet to be determined!

My dreaming of a White Christmas
might just happen this Christmas in July!
