STARSTRUCK Ghastliness

Just in time for Halloween...
I bring you STARSTRUCK...
GHASTLIES!

I am always looking for patterns that will
be perfect for my Ghastlie quilts.

Starstruck by Lela Boutique was just that!

I pulled out some of my loved Ghastliness

I had lots of early BRAMBLE prints that would
be perfect for the stars!

I stacked and sewed them all to make sure
I had enuf fabrics!

This orange would be the POP of the design!

I still have wonderful Ghastlie prints scattered throughout the years
of my collecting....hoarding.

I selected white for the background of the STARS
and black GRUNGE for the corner stones of the SNOWBALL blocks.

Once all the blocks were made
I used my design wall to layout and
to figure out the placement of colors.

I highlighted the number of Orange Star blocks I had made.
They needed to balance throughout the top and as the
brightest color those Stars needed to
make the top POP!

the layout was perfect!
my deck...not so much!

Kim Hensley of Happily Ever Quilting did the longarm quilting.
An E2E design called Bubble Glitter.
My backing was two shades of gray GRUNGE

Sew, this make is #10 of my personal
Ghastlies Collection of quilts.

STARSTRUCK for sure!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM ALL THE
GHASTLIES and GRISLIES

WONKY CHURN DASH

I have wanted to make a wonky churn dash block
quilt for a very long time.
I had an Autumn Woods Layer Cake
from Kate and Birdie.

I wanted something fall-ish for my great room.

Sew I snooped around the internet and found a
Freestyle Churn Dash tutorial by
Missouri Star.
Seemed like a good idea.
No need to reinvent the wheel
if the car is already moving!

Just google Freestyle Churn Dash, Missouri Star
to find the tutorial.
I also found a pattern, but I preferred the tutorial.
YOU DON"T NEED an entire LC to make the
top if you use the tutorial method, About have the 10" squares.

IF YOU USE the PATTERN...
you'll need all the squares!
This was maddening to me!

I did a test block to make sure about the look and feel
YUP I like it!!

I had the background fabric,
so this is a STASH BUSTER!

Look at all this yumminess...

as I pieced the units together.

Before I knew it...the blocks were done,
and the back fabric was selected.
ALSO, from my stash!

I went with a scrappy binding using leftovers
the backing fabrics!

Sew here it is!
Long Arm Quilting by Kim Hensley
Happily Ever Quilting
E2E design called White Space!

I just luv my IMPPROV backing
with a large Wonky Churn Dash in the middle.

Another peek at the quilting!

Laid out on the deck...see the scrappy binding!

And on my great room sofa!
with a Gordon Pumpkin Seeds
PIILLOW!
Colors are matchy!

NEVER TOO EARLY FOR CHRISMAS TREES!

I luv me some wonky trees.
A Crazy Christmas Tree pattern was gifted
to me by a friend. I borrowed the Creative Grids
Spider Web Ruler from another friend
sew I could make this fun project.

During the summer I was busy working
on my trees for an upcoming guild presentation.

My Lets' Get Wonky presentation is sew fun.
I show traditional blocks and then how I
WoNKY them up!

The table runner was quick and easy to make.
I did some simple straight line quilting.

And love how it turned out.

KWILTY GIRLS AT THE WOLF!

A continuation of shennigans
by the Kwilty Girls
at our June, 2025 retreat
at The Wofangel Retreat House.

JUST BEFORE IT CLOSED!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...

These are Lucinda Millers quilts.
Most of the tops she had made and brought to retreat
for our Show n Tell!

She loves teal and wine colors!

This pumpkin was being created by
Michelle Tinker

Kathy Guenthers' creative endeavors

Kathy's quilt back from longarmer

This is the back...

Patty Estadt loves her charity tops!
I know she had more quilt tops...
but I'm lost to where they are!

Tami Pfeil had her flags flying!

And her hearts out!
This was made prior to retreat
and the long armer brought it to her.

this is the back...

And I spent most of the time making these Sweet Mae quilt blocks.

Pretty sure I missed getting photos, but you get the picture!

BYE BYE TO THE WOLF!

The Kwilty Girls were one of the last quilting groups
to enjoy Wolfangel Retreat House in Cincinnatti, OH
It was a lovely mid-century modern design house,
set back from the main road, into the woods.

A welcoming entrance, lower level, at the bottom of the
spiral staricase.

A fully stocked kitchen for eating in or simply playing games
at the huge table.

Plenty of space in the creative space!

A back porch that had seating for meal
and overlooked the wooded ravines.

A downstairs on-suite for two lucky, elderly folks, Me and Kathy
to enjoy!

The basement had plenty of bedroom and beds
and I'm so happy I didn't have to use the spiral staircase to get there.

We all enjoyed this one.
Sad to see it close.
