A STORY OF FABRIC IN A TELLING TOWN - Sunday Stash

Catching up with Sunday Stash and
My Jonesboro, TN story continues...at

Two levels of glorious fabric beckon me to enter.
My head almost spins as I don't know where to look first.

Beautiful kwilts hang everywhere and draw my attention upward.
Did I just hear a baby laugh?
I check out the children's fabrics back in the corner.

But wait...I see the modern fabrics...ahhh, I don't remember
these my first visit, several years ago.
The shop is hearing the modern kwilting movement
speak loud and clear.

Light catches a bright wall of fabric and I move toward it...
smiling!
The "Stairway to Heaven" tune begins to play in my head
as I take the stairs to the "Sale Room" that I know is upstairs.
My heart is racing and it's not from climing the stairs.
I see the room, the fabric, the sale prices.
OMG, did I bring my charge card!!!
Upstairs, the Halloween fabrics catch my eye...
No Ghastlies but look ag the selection..
I know the Ghost Whisperer is pushing me now!
AND oh my, the HOLIDAY FABRICS.
I can smell the cookies baking!
I'm now dreaming of decorating my trees..
FOCUS Kathy FOCUS!

My story won't end because the fabrics I bought
will end up in someone's home AND their story will begin.

A STORYTELLING TOWN

In the rolling hills of NE Tennessee  you can find
"The Storytelling Capital of the World"

I visited here last year and have held this post for way too long
Sew here goes "my story"
Come with me to historic downtown Jonesborogh, TN
and I'll tell you a story.

The Storytelling Center is home to the
fall festival each October.
Storytellers from everywhere come to spin their yarns.
The welcome center speaks kwilts
Main Street is lined with shops and churches
 Crafty boutiques

 Bed and Breakfast Lodging
 City Hall
 and of course Antique Stores
The textiles found here have stories of their own.

love the blue and white fabric garland
I wonder what it draped..in its glory.
Hand kwilting...
that says "wrap me all around you, I have something to tell you"
Textile treasures, keeping secrets...
Vintage tablecloths, covering up tables full of tales.

an old sewing machine whispers to catch your attenion.
Although I heard much of what these items were saying
I left them for the curiosity of future visitors.

My story is not over!
Calling my name, just down the street was...

Your imagination will interpret the fabric stories yet to be told...
as the story continues next week.

Where is your favorite small town?

WIP WEDNESDAY

Making progress on the

I made these blocks while on vacation in February
with a "QUILTY" jelly roll and some gray solids

The pattern I started with was called Pick up Sticks.
I like the block design idea but trimmed them a bit smaller
and ditched the pattern.

 All vertical rows are sewn.
Solid white will finish off the sashing between rows

Almost have a tote bag done....
just need to add the top stitch on the top of the bag
and a huge button for the tie closure.

This Geekly Chic fabric is sew me in the 60s

And "not for me" I have been working on a customer kwilt.
Custom kwilting a Ghastlies on my home Bernina!

Just need to do the black / gray spider web blocks.
Maybe kwilt a large spider web?

Sew there ya have it.
Hey, leave me a comment and tell me what you are working on.

"that wagon is parked in the junk yard"
It is smashed to smitherines and I will NEVER see it again!
