I was a guest demonstrator at the
St. Boniface Quilters Show
on July 10, 2021
"Folding Quilts on the Diagonal"
I didn't invent this method, don't know who did...but
If you want to eliminate those deep batting folds.
THIS is the METHOD!
Just google it....lots of videos out there!
My other tip was to store your quilts on the vertical
or side by side vs one on top the other.
This eliminates the extra weight piled into a stack
and possibly gives you more space on a shelve to stack
and or display your quilts.
Here was my demo station covered with moder quilts!
The quilt hanging in the back is a traditional quilt...
a memory quilt...made from my Mom's House Dresses.
I pieced it and Shirley hand quilted it.
She wanted it to be a special part of the show.
My Plaidish Quilt was an eye catcher
and it ended up as a HUGE topic of discussion...
on how to use up your scraps,
sorting by low, medium and dark values.
A simple method that wont drive you nuts!
The pattern and free tutorial is by Erica Jackman
and you can find it here.
The other table cover was my COLOR DIVE rainbow quilt.
Pattern by Anna Maria Horner and I used mostly Alison Glass fabrics.
I brought several Ghastlie Quilts to "fold" during the demo.
I couldn't believe how many people had NEVER SEEN GHASTLIES!
Oh yes, the traffic was great but 6 hours of demos left
my back muscles sore from folding and feet aching from standing.
I was in my element...talking quilts, scraps, color and Ghastliness1
If you ever need a trunk show or demo...please keep me in mind!
I have never seen them folded on the diagonal. I had to stop and go look on google. What a neat way to fold them! Thanks for mentioning it.
