MAINE THING...is catching up!

Its been awhile since I finished this cute top.
I call it "The Maine Thing"
because the novelty prints are Nautical.

Naomi Pattern by Erica Jackman, Kitchen Table Quilting.
I was a pattern tester for this pattern.

MODERN CHRISTMAS TREES

Yes you saw the finished top.
But I wanted to make sure you know
about the process and the free tutorial
by Amy Smart, find it here!

But first, I made some sample blocks.
I will work this into a table runner for a Christmas Gift.

I love the tutorial that Amy Smart offers.
You can find it here.
She also has a You Tube Video that you will want to look up.

She talks about how to stack 6 fabrics
and cut them.  THEN by just
switching one tree fabric from bottom to the top...
you have 6 different trees!

I used my block boards to keep them organized
til I was ready to sew them.

4 Boards

6 fabrics / 6 trees on each board

Sew easy

My Hustle and Bustle was ON!

and the finished top!

It's being long arm quilted now and
will be ready for Christmas!

STRIP PLUS QUILT

OK, I still need to put the binding on this one.
I am waiting for my Bernina 740 to get back from spa day.
If its not finished soon...I will use my Bernina 440.
I like the dual feed on the 740, sew I should just wait!
It's been a spa month but I was told 6 weeks, sew....🙁

My good friend Kim Hensley, of Happily Every Quilting,
did the longarm quilting and isn't it lovely!

We decided on a fun E2E design called
Mr. Marbles and white thread.
I love the curved quilting against the geometric pluses.

The colors just pop on the white background.

I used an older jelly roll, Reel Time, by Zen Chic.
I wanted a gray, mustard, green and black color scheme.
I pulled out the blues and oranges.

The backing by Alison Glass was a super buy at
Zincs Warehouse in Berlin, OH.
I thought the X and + design of white on gray
was perfect.

Last August, Kim brought the quilt to a quilt retreat
we attended, at Newkirk House in Newark OH.

I did have some left over PLUS blocks
and will make either pillows or a table runner
with some other fabrics I found in my stash.

I love everything about this journey.
The quilt finished at 60" x 69"
Quilting is sew much fun!
The binding has been ready...
Let's roll!

WHEN QUILTY GIRLS GATHER

It was a FABULOUS Quilty Girl's Retreat!
This post is a bit long, lots of pictures, but seriously...read it all!

Meet...Kim, Tami and Lucinda!

Patty, Me and Kathy

A Thursday - Sunday adventure!
The sewing room area was huge with 8 large tables
2 ironing boards, 2 designs walls
and a large cutting area right beside this room!

Kathy was thinking about all the HST she needed.

To make a Fall Breeze quilt top!
We all drooled over this one!

Lucinda showed her 'crack' (inside joke)!

Her Christmas Tree quilt top was sew pretty!

Staggered rows look pretty cool!

and the backing, too cute!

Lucinda also finished up this top!

and look at this backing!

Tami was blasting thru her projects
using her mighty little Featherweight!

This is Tami's own pattern of the Santa Hats.

Tamil also used her own pattern design
to cut out and sew up this top for Stitching Sisters Charity.

Patty (left) nd Kim (right) were kept the heat going with their projects!

Patty kept the irons hot...

and finished this one with a mixture of designs and color!

Patty worked on finishing the binding for two
Wedding gift quilts that used this same pattern.

Patty also sewed together a kit from Stitching Sisters charity.

Kim was intent on making this Ghastlies Meadowland her
project for the weekend.

and she made half of the blocks.
Meadowland has a lot of pieces!

I brought Basic Gray Hustle and Bustle to make
Christmas Tree Blocks.

Which went together quick and easy!
AND the only project I actually worked on!

A beautiful view of The Newkirk House
and the two Christmas tree quilt tops.
Same design, different interpretations.

Kim (left) and my (right) Cut Loose pattern
were Sewcial Distance quilt tops/ Kim quilted them both.

And yes, there were beverages....
like coffee in my OSU Mug!

A  summery drink Kim made for us!

Tami and I enjoyed Old Fashioned Bourbon drinks!
Well, it was her birthday after all!

My t-shirt only hints at the wine that was served.

Which proved another of my t-shirts...says it all!

We had sew much fun we have made reservations
for January, 2023
