KWILTY GIRLS WINTER RETREAT 2026

I made it to a Kwilty Girls Retreat!
I have missed sew much the last 6 months due to
My hubby s health. He is getting better
And finally at a place where I felt I child leave him alone.

He did habe a friend take him to lunch and check on him.
And his daughter covered one day for me
Sew nice to have some backup.
Caregiving is a full time job…
I need a raise!

This girl needed GIRL TIME.

It may have begun with my
Wonky FG Patty quilted for me!
Celtic Sea w Mustard thread!

I sewed up this Scot’s Plaid design for my hubby.
He turns 80 in February and
Was a TV repairman for 40 years!
This is his bday gift!
And a great steak dinner!

Then I made the Quilty Love design top
Using AnnaMaria Horner scraps
that Kim Hensey gave me!

Kathy Guenther was thrilled to get her FOREST quilt
Patty had quilted for her.
Love that E2E design!

This one, Play a Card, was also quilted by Patty

Kathy spent most of her time over the weekend
Working in this beautiful Flying Geese Quilt top.

Lucinda Miller is always a busy bee at retreat.
Her rendition of Twusted Geese, Zen Chic is lovely.
She’s becoming a master at LV scrappy backgrounds.

She was knitting! Her first dish cloth!

She made a quilted basket!

Finished a floor rug pattern by Tami Pfeil

Tami Pfeil was sewing uo this design she created

And we can’t wait to see what this Nutcracker
When Tami finishes it !

Kim Hensley was making this Flag Quilt for her
Sin ti be nephew who is getting his US  citizenship soon.

And this fabulous baby Quilt made in low volume log cabins

Patty Estadt worked on a charity quikt.

And spent most of her time sewing together tractors!
Of course, hers were much cuter…I can’t find the pic!

Our next retreat is in April and my fingers are crossed
That I can attend that one too!

BABY CHATMAN QUILT!

A new great-grand daughter arrives in January.
I made her quilt, long before she was a gleam in her daddies eyes!

I was at Ocean Isle Beach a few years ago and made
a test pattern using Into the Woods Jelly Rolls...
I've always loved Lil'' Red !

The pattern was called TYPE and a very quick and easy make.

There was a local garden, not far from the beach
so I made a journey there for a photo op...
Into the Woods.

Then home it came and sat on a shelf for several years.
Now that Baby Chatman was in the works...
I found a backing that would work for this one.

I still floor pin my quilt sandwiches....it works for me
cept my old body doesnt care for it.
I wanted to quilt this one myself....so down I went.

It really didn't take long to quilts as I
just quilted some serpentine lines.

I made a scrappy binding that was just perfect for framing!

And now we wait...til she arrives!

FALL BREEZE KINDA WAS A BREEZE

This was a quilt my friend Kathy Guenther made
and I fell in love with it.
Yes, I'll make it too.

I've always wanted a vibrant fall quilt.
I love the fall colors, and I love GRUNGE fabrics.
Seemed like perfect choice for...
FALL BREEZE

I drug my feet on making this one.
I was leery of all the HST.
It took a while to cut, bag and label all the
pieces and then it SAT for about a year.

I like to use a KEY card to label my fabrics
and make sure my colors will fit nicely into
the layout of the pattern colors
Just change color names as needed.
And here I sewed the stems my way, I didn't like
the way the pattern directions said to make them?

The pattern needed 12 large maple leaves.

I made them with my 5 vibrant GRUNGE color choices
on the light gray background.

There are 28 small leaves.
Gotta say...this pile of leaves is
looking very good!

I selected a light gray for the background.

All blocks made and
the top was laid out on the design wall.
and sewn!

Ta-DAH!

    Such a pretty finished top.

So off to Kim Hensley for the Longarm Quilting.
We selected an E2E design Bubble Glitter
showed up beautifully on the backing
and all the neutral space on the top.

Binding was same background fabric.
I wanted the leaves to float.
Cause when leaves fall in the breeze...
They float.

I am thrilled with this beauty!

And the hubby here with his obligatory photo
seems to like it too!

I don't know why I was so worried...it kinda was a breeze!
